Kangaroo Island

Our journey to Kangaroo Island began at the Sea Link port at Cape Jervis. We would travel on the Sealion 2000

The journey across the Backstairs Passage from took about 45 minutes which gave us time for a snack and a cuppa before we arrived at Penneshaw.

We disembarked and then drove across the island to Kingscote in search of our accommodation for the next four nights. Our room at the Acacia Apartments where we are staying is spacious with lovely facilities. Having got ourselves organised we headed out to explore the area around the town of Kingscote

First stop was the jetty where we found a seal and some very photogenic pelicans

There were plenty of other birds about as well

Reeves point is quite near our apartment and there are a number of sites of historical significance since this was the location of the first European Settlement in South Australia. We drove through this area and I decided it would be a good place to return at sunset.

On our way back to the apartment we discovered an interesting example of combination farming - sheep and viticulture!
